Foreword
Welcome to March! Spring has finally arrived in Kristianstad, and the Student Union would like to wish all students at Kristianstad University a wonderful spring month.
What has happened?
February was a busy month for the Student Union, filled with meetings and events. For example, Daniel traveled to Linköping to attend a meeting with the Swedish National Union of Students (SFS). The Executive Committee (AU) also attended various meetings at the university. Daniel participated in meetings regarding the city campus and with Mats from Colours, while Nelly and Elin Svensson attended meetings with ÅSS. Elin Svensson also had meetings with Sexmästeriet and Cefyrekon to discuss upcoming parties and formal dinners planned for the spring and fall semesters. Additionally, Elin Finnman met with students regarding student-related cases.
On February 14th, the Student Union treated all members to "kärleksmums" (chocolate cake with coconut topping), and all students were offered free coffee. We also served coffee during the last week of February.
The planning for the kick-off (inspark) has already begun, and applications to get involved are now open. Don’t wait—apply now and be part of two weeks of fun with both new and returning students!
Several events were also held by different groups. Sexmästeriet hosted it´s first pub crawl of the year, which attracted many students—what a blast! The following week, their game master organized a game night in House 15, where some students gathered to play, and AU also joined in on the fun. Cefyrekon held their annual After Ski event, which was attended by many students, Cefyrekon members, and some from AU. WOHO!
The last week of February was packed with activities. On Tuesday, Kristianstad Student Union held its annual meeting for students and members, where we presented the 2024 annual report and elected new members to the election committee. The next day, Nelly and Elin S. hosted the first &Quiz of the year together with Jenny and Anneli from the university’s Communications Department. The event, in collaboration with Kulturkvarteret and a group from Furuboda Folk High School, was a great success! The food was delicious, the band played exceptionally well, and the quiz questions were just the right level of challenging—perhaps even too good?
The day after the quiz, KSK held its first event for members, where they could relax in the spa area at Badriket. The event was highly appreciated, and tickets sold out. Last but certainly not least, Sexmästeriet hosted its first themed "fulsittning" (a casual student dinner party) on Saturday, with the theme "When I was little, I wanted to be...". The event attracted both Swedish and international students, featuring a tasty pasta salad and chocolate cake for dessert. There were also entertaining performances from both AU and Sexmästeriet, along with some classic student dances.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention something important! A former board member has returned as a representative. Let’s give a warm welcome back to David Rosenqvist! David will continue working on the "Students in Leadership" project, which he was involved in during 2024. Welcome back, David!
What’s coming up?
March is packed with exciting events. On March 12th, the University will hold an open house, and the Student Union will be stationed in House 7, where students and visitors can challenge us in beer pong—good luck! The following day, the Student Union invites its members to go bowling at C4 Bowling. So, get your best bowling moves ready and may the best player win! You´ll also need to buy your ticket via the orbi-app.
The week after the bowling event, it's time for another game night, this time at O’Leary’s in Kristianstad. For just 10 kr, you can also play shuffleboard. You buy the ticket through the orbi-app. O’Leary’s will offer a special student menu with discounted food and drinks—so come, enjoy some great food, and play games with friends and fellow HKR students!
The last weekend of March, it’s time to bring out the oversized blazers, neon outfits, leg warmers, and big hair, because Sexmästeriet is hosting the first big party of the year with an 80s theme! More details about the event is on Sexmästeriet’s Instagram: @semasteiet_ksk.
That same weekend, while the 80s party is in full swing, Nelly, Elin, and Elin will be in Trollhättan for FÖRFUM. This is where all members of SamS (Samverkande Studenter) gather to discuss preparations for SFSFUM in May. They will also use this opportunity to network with other student unions. You can read more about SamS on ksk.nu.
You might be wondering what Daniel will be up to that weekend—well, I’ll tell you! Daniel, along with some members of Student union and Sexmästeriet, will be modeling for stores in Kristianstad City. This collaboration between the Student Union, Sexmästeriet, and Kristianstad City will take place on Good Friday, so come to the city center and check out how stylish they will be!
